A major step in the dissemination of information through the medium of video in the South Pacific has been made possible by CTA's assistance in the purchase of equipment that provides IRETA and USP with modest but effective video production capability. The two institutions - IRETA (Institute for Research, Extension and Training in Agriculture), the University of the South Pacific, and CTA Regional Branch Office at the USP Alafua Campus in Western Samoa have shot and edited their first video production for use in a workshop on small engine repairs. Additional footage was shot at the workshop, highlighting specific aspects of engine trouble-shooting. Copies of the video were made available to participants to reinforce the lessons of the workshop and to serve as future reference material. Future plans call for the use of such a video in the USP classrooms to reinforce workshop learning, for documenting crop and livestock trials, for farmer and extension officer training, and to document the work of the USP and IRETA For more details, contact: David Bland Technical Adviser, Video/Communications USP Alafua Campus Private Mad Bag - Apia WESTERN SAMOA
