African journal of library, archives and information science
This new journal has been established mainly to provide a forum for librarians, archivists, documentalists, information scientists and other information related professionals in Africa to report their research findings. Papers by any information professional anywhere in the world to report on information practices in Africa and the Third World but with emphasis on an African setting, are welcome. The journal, which is to be published twice a year, will be of a high standard in content and format and will be refereed by distinguished scholars. Emphasis will be on empirical research, although manuscripts of a high quality on theoretical aspects of the three information related disciplines will be considered for publication. Other areas to be covered will include book reviews; focus on landmark information centres in Africa; abstracts of articles in other journals published in Africa on librarianship, information science and archives; news of local and international conferences, seminars and workshops; major research projects being undertaken by African professionals including doctoral projects; and interviews with distinguished information professionals in Africa.
