It s that balance between agriculture and environment again. The new modelling software Savanna can foresee the ecological impact of an agricultural project, or a wildlife conservation programme, in just one area or neighbouring areas. It uses hundreds of aspects wildlife, plants, livestock, soil, climate and human activity to make predictions over between five and 100 years. Savanna was produced initially for use in East Africa and western USA, by Colorado State University, ILRI Nairobi, and the new Future Harvest body which promotes its member international agricultural research centres.
