The Canadian Organization for Development through Education (CODE) has recently published its first newsletter. Called Ngoma, which means drum in Swahili, the newsletter contains articles in English, French and German about the organization's activities.
CODE is an international NGO committed to promoting literacy and education in the developing world. It support for autonomous publishing, library development and skills training through partnerships with local organizations because it believes that a healthy book trade is a fundamental requirement for universal literacy. CODE also concentrates on the needs of primary-level school children and newly literate adults by improving the availability of relevant reading materials to these groups.
Ngoma is to be published twice' yearly and the editors welcome manuscripts on topics related to CODE activities.
