The United States Department of Agriculture's ...
The United States Department of Agriculture's latest review of monthly developments in rice production, consumption and prices shows world rice stocks are now approaching the lowest level since 1987/88, after declining for the third year in a row. This is the result of three successive years of decline in rice production and continued growth in global consumption. Comment: Paradoxically, although world rice stocks are declining, the EU continues to suck in imports while European production continues to rise, leading to growing rice stocks in the EU.
