Paper by an ad hoc TAC panel working from Gabrielle Persley's studies of the needs for internationally supported research on the coconut, in the context of previous TAC decisions on the priority of oilseeds in general. The paper reviews existing research programs, and discusses suitable priority areas within coconut research. The panel considered six number of institutional alternatives, including support to national institutions, and to ICRAF, IRRI and IBPGR.
