CGIAR news release on global trends in food production, food requirements, and population growth over the next thirty years, and the role of agricultural research in increasing productivity, promoting rural development, and protecting the environment. International crop production trends in rice, wheat, food legumes, bananas and plantains, potato and sweet potato, barley, millet and sorghum, and cassava are described by region, and examples of CGIAR research advances given.
