The CGIAR Principles on the Management of Intellectual Assets were adopted in March 2012 and apply to the CGIAR Consortium, its 15 member Centers, and to all their activities and programs. The focus of the Principles are the ‘intellectual assets’ that are produced or acquired by Centers; that is, the results and/or products of research and development activities that are produced or acquired by Centers. This short paper provides some background to the CGIAR IA Principles, its aims, and how the Principles meet these aims.
